Here are my top 5 picks to survive and enjoy the holidays.
1. Make sure to exercise, maybe you can't hit the gym every day, but 30 minutes a day of physical activity will improve your cardiovascular system, increase your energy, help boost your immune system, reduce the risk of cancer, improves focus, mood, and overall mental health, plus aids in weight management. Get your heart rate up, sweat a little bit, your body needs it and you'll feel better for doing it.
2. Maintain a healthy diet. I'm not suggesting you turn into a rabbit and eat vegetables for the next 30 days, but balance what you're taking in. We all know that a healthy diet prevents things such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and obesity. It will also increase your energy and overall well being. I take Greens every morning to get a full 8+ servings of fruits and vegetables, it balances pH, detoxifies, and alkalizes the body, and cancer cannot grow in an alkalized body. There are also weight loss benefits with the Greens, it's amazing how much difference removing toxins can make. It's Vital partners with the Greens to ensure your body is getting all of the necessary nutrients, a daily multi-vitamin is essential to ensure our bodies are getting everything it needs.
3. Pamper your skin. Your skin is the biggest organ of your body, everyone can see it, so take care of it. Exfoliate daily, this opens pores, revitalizes the skin, promotes natural skin renewal, decreases fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, and daily toxins. I use It Works! Daily Cleanser all over my body, including my face then follow it with the Defining Gel. Not only does the Defining Gel moisturize, it also helps tone and firm the skin while reducing the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite. Of course I will also utilize the Ultimate Body Applicator, the all natural, site specific wrap that will tone, tighten, and firm while nourishing the skin and body on the outside as well as the inside, and will certainly help me fit into that hot little party dress and my skinny jeans.
4. Don't stress. This time of the year can add a lot of stress to anyone's life and a lot of us cope with it in unhealthy ways. Stress is linked to many health issues, including high blood pressure, heart disease, headaches, depression, accelerated aging, and premature death. Don't binge eat or drink, don't go without eating, get 8 hours of sleep, balance your schedule and make to do lists to help prioritize what needs to be done and what can wait. It's important to take time for you, spend a little time each day doing something you enjoy to de-stress. Yoga, meditation, a hot bath, a good book, anything that helps you relax. I've recently added a natural supplement, Confianza, from It Works! into my daily routine, it improves mental focus and concentration, helps the body cope with physical and mental stress, decreases fatigue, and increases energy. This has become my best friend in accomplishing all that is needed and required of me on a daily basis and avoiding any melt downs.
5. Indulge moderately. With the holidays comes all the goodies and they pack plenty of fat, carbs, and calories, but this doesn't mean you can't enjoy these tasty temptations. Eat a light meal before going to a party, this way you aren't starving and will keep you from overeating, at buffet style events fill your plate with fruits and vegetables first and nibble those while making your other decisions, pick two indulgences and keep the portions smaller. Stay away from high calorie drinks, like eggnog and stick with wine, for every alcoholic beverage you have, drink a glass of water, this will help curb your drinking, reduce the amount of empty calories, and hopefully prevent you from any drunken table dancing. For your less than healthy meal, I suggest following it with Fat Fighter, this can be used up to an hour after the meal to absorb some of those calories and fat you've just taken in and prevent that next morning bloated feeling.
Lastly, remember to enjoy the season. Focus on those that you love, the blessings you've been given, and take lots of pictures.
